Dear Lauren,
Today in class we learned about we learned about a short story autour named Shirley Jackson. Shirley was born to Leslie and Geraldine Jackson on December 14, 1916, in San Fransico, CA. Throuout her teenage years, Shirley used to always write short stories and poems,In 1937 Shirley attended Syracuse University. In that same university, is where her first book got published called "Janice". Throught her life she has written many short stories and novels. Her best novel was the "Haunting of Hill House" and her best short story was "The Lottery" which was published on June 26,1948. She has won 4 awards/honors in her life.
Shirley ended up getting married Stanley Edgar Hyman who was a literary critic. She later ended up having 4 kids, Laurence Hymans, Barry Hymans, Joanne Hymans, and Sarah Hymans. Sadly on August 8,1965 at the age of 49 in Vermount CA. The cause for her death was heart failiure while she was sleeping. Even though she had a tragic death, her leagacy lives on by students reading some of her short stories.
